Its so sad to hear that Steve Jobs has passed away, everyone has been sending out links and status about him. I just watched his 2005 Stanford Commencement Address where he gave an inspiring speech.

He even talked about death, here's an excerpt from his speech

"Remembering that I'll be dead soon is the most important tool I've ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Because almost everything — all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure - these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.

No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don't want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life's change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. My colleague just informed me that Jollibee bought Burger King! She told me that she read it on Yahoo and I thought of blogging about it.

My first reactions was "Whhhaaatt?!?!" I never expected that to happen...

They bought Burger King for Php 65.5 million.

Manila (Philippine Daily Inquirer/ANN) - Philippine fastfood giant Jollibee Foods Corp. has cemented its leading position in the highly competitive quick-service restaurant industry by taking over the Philippine operations of American chain Burger King.

The deal allows JFC to gain a foothold into the premium segment of the hamburger category in the fast-food business as the group was expecting the premium price segment of the market "to grow appreciably in the years ahead as the Filipino consumers' standard of living rises from the growing economy."

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange Friday, Jollibee announced that it has signed an agreement acquiring a 54-percent stake in BK Titans Inc., owner of PERF Restaurants that, in turn, is the sole franchisee of the Burger King brand in the Philippines. The deal was priced at 65.5 million pesos (US$1.49 million).

Burger King has 23 restaurants in the country, mostly located in Metro Manila. It generates annual revenues of P800 million and has recently turned profitable despite its much smaller store network compared to Jollibee's.

The American fastfood chain, which is based in Miami, Florida, has similar products to Jollibee such as hamburger, fried chicken and fries in its core menu. However, Burger King's products are priced about 30 percent higher than comparable Jollibee products in the Philippines.

The entry into higher-end fast food products will allow Jollibee to harness the growing mass affluence of Filipino consumers and capture a niche market that is less sensitive to economic cycles. At the same time, its entry is seen allowing Burger King to scale up operations in the country.

With the entry of Jollibee into BK Titans, the fast-food giant will still have as minority partners the groups of businessmen Manuel V. Pangilinan (13 percent) and Alberto Lina (33 per cent).
Founded in 1954, Burger King is the second-biggest fastfood hamburger chain in the world operating more than 12,300 locations and serving 11 million guests daily in 78 countries. Most of its restaurants are owned and operated by independent franchisees. In Asia, the business is managed by Singapore-based BK Asiapac Pte. Ltd.

For its part, Jollibee operates the Philippines' biggest fastfood network with 1,941 stores in the country under the brands Jollibee (733), Chowking (395), Greenwich (209), Caffe Ti Amo (2) and Mang Inasal (393). It has 437 stores overseas under the brands Yonghe King (235), Hong Zhuang Yuan (52), Jollibee (71), Red Ribbon (39) and Chowking (40).

I was just watching Bones Season 6 Episode 20, Dr. Temperance Brennan or mostly called "Bones" was driving a blue Toyota, when she was about to park her car she just pushed a button and the car automatically did all the parking for her! I can still remember Dr. Lance Sweets or "Sweets" when he blurted out, "Whoa! Ghost Driver!" Then Bones explained that it was an Intelligent Parking Assist, I was so shocked and was curious about it that I had to check it out on the internet.

Intelligent Parking Assist System (IPAS), also known as the Advanced Parking Guidance System (APGS) for Lexus models in the United States, is the first production automatic parking system developed by Toyota Motor Corporation in 2004 initially for the Japanese market hybrid Prius models and later Lexus models. The technology assists drivers in parking their vehicle. On vehicles equipped with the IPAS, via an in-dash screen and button controls, the car can steer itself into a parking space with little input from the user. The first version of the system was deployed on the Prius Hybrid sold in Japan in 2003. Za'atar Bread from Al Batra

Growing up in the Middle East made me love eating different kinds of food and this is one of my favorite breads.

You may wonder what it is, it’s called za’atar bread. Za’atar bread is pita bread with olive oil and za’atar seasoning. Za’atar is a Middle Eastern herb which has oregano, basil thyme, thyme and savory; they also add dried sumac, sesame seeds and other spices to make the seasoning for the bread.

I’m fond of food that has a tangy taste and this bread is the tangiest of all the breads I have eaten and it also has a salty taste. So far, there’s only one restaurant that sells it and that's Al Batra Restaurant & Coffee Shop. They are selling it for Php 100 apiece.

CHUCK'S DELI

After more than a year, Kathi and I finally met up in January and had dinner at Chuck's Deli.

I ordered the Pilgrim which was turkey and has cranberry sauce,

the cranberry sauce was really sweet and I felt like I was on sugar high.

Good thing there was garlic sauce and if you wanted some spice in your slab or burger there's Chuck's sauce.

Another plus is the Cherry Coke, so far they're only place that serves them :D

Beauty Make Up Class at Make Up Designory

Groupon Philippines had an online deal at Make Up Designory Manila (also known as M.U.D) for a Beauty Make Up Class, instead of paying Php7000 they had a 60% off which made it Php2800 and another good thing about it is that the scheduled class are on Sundays! I grabbed the opportunity since I always wanted to know how to properly use make up. I have to agree that I have make up and I have tons of them at home, I also watch make up tutorials in YouTube, but I know I’m still lacking. I keep getting comments and feedback that I can just read articles and watch tutorials but for me it’s still better that I learn it with an expert. Online blogs and books are a really a good help but for me learning it in class would be much effective.

I had my class scheduled on April 17, 2011 and the class is from 10am to 6pm. I was the second student to arrive. MUD is located at the second floor in Serendra just above BPI. At first, I thought I was lost and next thing I know, Make Up Designory is actually inside Pure Beauty. It was a small classroom filled with a lot of mirrors and a lot of light, I thought that there was going to be yellow light but good thing it wasn’t. Our makeup instructor arrived about 5 to 10 minutes and she has this bright cheerful and friendly face and personality. She told us to put all our makeup on our table so she could take a look at them and she helped my other classmates with the brushes and make ups that they needed.

Here‘s what I learned that day:
- A background about Make Up Designory and its Products
- How to trim our eyebrows and giving it a natural look
- How to apply and look for the right foundation for your skin
- The basic make up brushes you need
- How to know or test an eye shadow that has a good quality or that’s really pigmented
- How to apply day and night eye shadows
- How to apply your blush in a different way
- How to apply lip color

I really learned a lot that day and the class is very helpful especially for those who don’t know how to use make up. I would definitely recommend it to my friends; you would really learn a lot from them and their makeup are also good. I definitely added their make up as my favorites. Their makeup is a bit pricey and I would still recommend it because it’s worth every centavo.

A few days ago, my cousin posted pictures of some accessories she made that are when I knew that my mom taught her how to make them. I commented on her album and said “Welcome to the club!” She asked to see some of my work and so I did. I just upload the picture and thought of blogging about it as well

I made these last year and I was suppose to sell it online, since I got a new job last February I didn’t have the time to make a new batch. I miss making my own accessories especially earrings. I started making beaded bracelets and selling them to my classmates when I was in grade school and then I stopped. After college, my mom started making accessories but on her end she used crystals and stones.

HELLO 2011!!!! ITS FEBRUARY ALREADY!!!

Its 2011!!!! I’m a month late on blogging and I’m going to make a different approach for this year. I realized that I was all into making a profit in blogging that I forgot all the fun and love in it, so this year I’ll focus more on the love than the money. We all have to admit that we need to earn but I’ll be taking it lightly this year. I was checking my files at home and in the office and I realized that I was so unorganized and not up to date with everything, so I started this year with filing everything properly and let’s see what will happen from there.

January was a really challenging month for me; the first two weeks was a lot of negative emotions and I was at a point of giving up, I’d really have to thank the Bruno boy, Harold, Celica and my brother for being there. They all know what I’ve been going through and thank God I have good friends! There is one thing that really surprised me last month and I never expected it as well… I went for confession!!! No one pressured me, no one pushed me to the confession room and there weren’t any angry voices from left to right shouting “Nica!!!! Mag kumpisal ka na!” I was already on the edge and I needed help, even though there are friends and family it seems that the comforts and good advices weren’t enough.

My brother kept telling me that St. John Bosco’s relic was here in the Philippines so we opted to visit him at Mary Help in Better Living with my Mom, Mia, my Aunt and of course my cousin Dhey. I do admit that after the visit and confession, I was all enlightened and felt at ease.

Stress and challenges at work is still there. After one challenge there’s always another, I’m trying my best to keep up and I’m trying to do everything I can to surpass it. Let’s see what this years is in store for me.

It all started this year when I saw Jellybean having a “Buy One and get the 2nd item for 50% off.” I was all curious so I went their store and to my surprise I can fit in their Medium or Large sizes! From then on they become one of my favorites! I was strolling around Megamall a few weeks and thought checking their items. I saw this dress that had an attached gartered belt, they only had a medium size that was available and to my surprise it fit me well! The sad part is I didn’t have enough cash on me, from what I know they have the “Buy One and get the 2nd item for 50% off” again until the end of December. I’m hoping I’m going to get my hands on that dress again and I hope it’s still available. If not, I hope there are new items that I’ll fall in love with.

How Do You Eat Your Frozen Yogurt?

That question kept on repeating in my head ever since my brother laughed and commented on how I eat my frozen yogurt.

My favorite toppings are blueberries, cereal and nuts, I always taste the tip of my froyo first then I get a small portion of each topping and then I have this habit of mixing all the toppings and fro-yo together making them look like an ordinary ice cream.

My brother was surprised when he saw me mixing them and blurted “Talagang hinalo mo sila!?” (You really mixed all of them!?)

So let me ask you, “How do you eat your froyo?”

I had the BEST MASSAGE and it’s ALWAYS FREE!!!

Yes, you read it right! I just had the best massage in the world and I got it for free and it will always be free! It’s home service, I get to choose what oil to use, I love the chit chats that we have and I also got to drink hot tea after that “Oh so…” wonderful massage. I never knew it was always in front of me and after 25 years I realized that I am one of the lucky people! She has the softest hands, the pressure is just right and she makes sure you’ll feel all relaxed and stress-free. She is the best there is and she’s my wonderful mother!

I guess it runs in the family, we have gifted hands when it comes to giving a good massage and I feel like it’s a requirement for us. I’d remember when I was a kid my dad would always ask me to massage his forehead before going to sleep, then during high school a family friend of ours taught me how to give a full body massage. It was actually helpful especially when my dad had a stroke back then.

It was back in August when I had my last massage; I was always busy and didn’t have the time to go to the spa. When October arrived, I started to feel backaches and it was nightmare! This week was really toxic for me, I had this viral infection with some allergic component (that was what the doctor said) which I thought were measles, I had a ton load of work that I stayed 2 extra hours in the office. I decided to chill and relax tonight since it a long weekend. I met up with my college friend, Tinsley, and then we saw Az who invited us to watch the “Megamall Atrium Holiday Collection Fashion Show 2010” and after that Tinsley and I went to Starbucks beside Discovery Suites. When I got home I was tired and my back was killing me. Good thing my parents were visiting this long weekend, I asked mom if she give me a massage and good thing she did!

I have to admit that it felt like heaven! I kept on burping the whole time she was massaging me and even after she was done. She told me that I had a lot of “hangin,” she offered hot tea but I told her that I’ll make it myself so she get her beauty sleep. Having that awesome massage then sipping a mug (yes, a mug) of hot tea I feel all stress free and relaxed! Nothing beats a mother’s tender touch and loving care! I LOVE YOU MOM!!!

At first sight, I thought Gardenia made a ready to eat French toast and next thing I know it was butterscotch! I love bread, my favorite is French toast and I never thought of having butterscotch as a bread! Its the next best thing! Its sweet plus has butterscotch bits on the bread and the forever yummy soft bread of Gardenia.

Ten Years Later... Mr. Kurosawa It Is!!!

Irish, my good of friend of mine, was back from Dubai. It has been a decade, and it’s not an exaggeration, it been 10 years since I last saw her. We always chat, text, see each other on Facebook and we finally decided to have a mini reunion. We met at Eastwood City with her cute puppy, Duchess, we were suppose to try Johnny Rockets but it was too loud for me since I was all tired and stressed. I needed a place that was quiet and less people as much as possible. We saw Mr. Kurosawa and since Irish already tried it there, I gave in. It seems I’m into places that are quiet, dark, out of the ordinary and less people, I always want to enjoy my meal with a good chat and not hearing too much noise.

I allowed Irish to take the lead on ordering and while waiting for our orders we chatted away on what happened during the long period of not bonding together. Come to think of it, Irish was right that, we came a long way from playing mud pies, sleepovers, and girlish talks about our crushes during elementary days and now we were talking about serious relationships, work, writing, photography, some insights on blogging and yes my never ending lecture of jeans.

I loved that evening, tons of laughter and food. So here’s what we ordered and what I think

It has fried kani (crab) sticks, slices of cucumber, mangoes and Japanese mayo for the dressing. It was the first time that I tried the shredded fried kani sticks and it tasted good. It reminded me of maling fries though, maybe because of the color and texture. A must try to those who like to explore different types of food.

Another fried kani sticks and this time it was with maki that has cucumber and the ordinary kani. I really forgot how this tasted and all I could remember is the fried kani sticks.

Loved this meal! I’m really curious how they made the outer part of the beef cooked and the center raw. I loved how the spicy feeling, I love spicy food and this is just right. I wonder why they called it Beef Di Caprio. Maybe because the beef was hot and since Leonardo Di Caprio is hot as well?!

It was my first at Mr. Kurosawa and I liked it. After a tiring day at work, it was just right for me and it was good place to bond with a friend.

Jewels by G - Mom's Hand Made Rosary Necklace

I was browsing my through my pictures and found some of my mother’s hand made jewelries. I was helping her set up an online shop in Multiply and these were some of her made to order rosary necklaces. These were ordered by my best friend. Some are Swarovski and some are Chinese crystals.

This one is my favorite, the lock is just above the golden ball.

Mom used 10K gold wires, gold balls and Swarovski. I so love the cross.

When my friend, Mel, arrived from Davao last week we went straight to Quezon City to meet up our college friends. Our friend Rochelle was working in ABS-CBN and she requested that we meet somewhere in Mother Ignacia, we were supposed to eat at Wicked Kitchen but since we got lost we arrived at ABS-CBN around 2am. Good thing Malcolm’s Burger is open 24hours! First thing that I noticed were the furniture, I like their chairs and the connecting glass tables that had a different heights.

My brother and I shared our food because we didn’t want a heavy meal since it was more of a midnight snack.

This reminds me of the old fashioned pizza, crispy thin crust pizza that you can really taste more of the toppings that the bread.

I thought the tickets we for employees and sister companies only, I just found out yesterday that we could invite friend and family. I asked my cousin and couple of friends if they want to attend. I asked for 4 more tickets and I'm still waiting for Freego's reply, I hope I can those tickets for them. Anyone can attend the fashion show, the tickets is a free pass for seats :D

I'm going to make sure that I'll attend Freego's event since I wasn't able to attend Wranglers and its a must for sister companies who got tickets.

Brother & Sister Bonding - My 10-10-10 Photo Moment

My brother and I always kept an online journal, I don't really remember who inspired who since both of us love reading and writing since we were kids. Yesterday, I was surprised that he texted me, asking how I earn through blogging; so I told him that I use Blogger, Nuffnang and Entrecard. I was really surprised this morning when he woke up and told me he already registered to all of them!

My brother asked for my helped on how to get around Nuffnang and Entrecard, after reading Azrael's 10-10-10 photo moment contest, I really had to grab this opportunity! This is like a once in a lifetime bonding, we usually bond over food and now we have a new one. It seems that we're going to compete on who has the most unique views per day and most number of blog entries!

Growing up in the U.A.E. and knowing how Arabic and Persian food really taste like is a big challenge here in the Philippines. I've been exploring a couple of restaurants and Al Batra Restaurant and Coffee Shop is one of the best Arabic restaurants I've ate at. My brother saw this a few months ago when we strolling around Makati Ave with one of our friends. The first time I went there was a month ago with my brother and Mel, who just arrived from Davao. The next one was right after the Intensity Concert with Ate Mae and Yvette.

Its really affordable and their smallest serving for mixed grills are good for 3 person!
Did I mention that they're open 24hours? You read that right! They're open day and night to serve us!

The Mixed Al Batra Appetizer is a mixture of hummos, tabula, baba ghanouj, mutable and green salad.

I also suggest you try the Mixed Grill which is only Php330.00, its a combination of grilled meat kebab, lamb chop and shish tawook. They also have my all time favorite white cheese and zathar bread for Php 100.00 each.

Movie Review
Overwhelming! One word best described this movie and I have nothing else to say. If you're the type of person that loved a good drama then this movie is for you but if you're not then I'd think twice before watching this. Its the type of movie that you'd want someone to cuddle with or have someone pass you a handkerchief or tissue. If you're a type of movie goer that likes The Notebook, Lakehouse and Wicker Park then this is the movie for you.
There's just one thing though, it feels like the movie was cut short or was too fast for me. I'm thinking on buying the book.

Movie Review
The best 3D animation I’ve seen! I love the story, the animation and the owls all look so cute that I want to hug and squeeze them! The characters were finely detailed not like the other 3D animations that I watched before and I suggest you watch it in 3D. It’s a movie that everyone would enjoy, if you had a crappy or stressful day this movie is the best medicine for you! Do you remember how it felt when you day dreamed about your favorite bed time story? The fear you felt when you saw Sleeping Beauty hypnotized and she was about to touch the needle and the wonderful feeling of a happy ending? This movie made me remember it exactly how I felt when I was 6 years old! It’s a great movie that couples, family, and friends would enjoy.

Synopsis
Five strangers (namely Sarah, Tony, Ben, Jane and Vince) were trapped in an elevator, at first, they thought it was due to maintenance but later did they know something was in store for them. While waiting for the elevator to work again, mysterious things starts to happen, the elevator lights would start to flicker, turn off and after a few seconds the lights would turn on and horror unleashes!

First lights off and on, Sarah gets injured by having a cut at her back, as the security watches what happens and helps them get out of the elevator, they reported the incident to the police. At the same time, detective Bowden is investigating a suicide that happened in the same building and helps with the elevator incident. He did a background check with all five people and found out that each stranger had a dark past. Every time the lights would flicker, it’s a sign that something was about to happen, later did they know, that was the sign that one of them was about to die.

As the first victim dies, everyone was being to each other and try to stay alive as long as possible while detective Bowden helps them get out of the elevator and solve the mind blowing case as soon as possible.

Movie Review
After watching this movie, I told myself, “I will not…. WILL NOT…. Use my cellphone as a flashlight, I will not sleep alone in the dark for a couple of days and I will not buy those big black contact lenses from GEO!” Knowing that this movie is by M. Night Shyamalan, I was really having doubts in watching it but good thing I did. After the Sixth Sense, this is by far a job well done, maybe because it was directed by another and not Shyamalan. The movie is mind blowing for me and I was caught off guard when I knew who the devil was. We all know that Shyamalan love putting a twist in his stories and he did a good job on this one. I would have to admit that I did not see that twist coming. I loved the movie twist; I really did, but the ending? Not so much. I also like the story of having a detective check their background instead of just hearing and introducing themselves as they were stuck in the elevator and getting killed one by one. There are scenes that I really loved and there scenes that you would say “How stupid?!”

In my point of view, M. Night Shymalan should just stick to writing or being a producer and let others direct the movie for him. I know it’s a harsh thing to say, but for me, it’s better off that way.

My overall rating for the movie would be a 7.5 out of a 10.

SYNOPSIS

After a terrible bus accident with a number of victims that perished, Cito and Pilar Buensuceso mourn for their daughter’s death. Their daughter, Carmela “Charm” was soon to be wed with Gerry before the she was killed in the accident. Her father and fiancé brought her home to Tuguegarao, Cagayan and when Pilar opened Charm’s casket she was stunned to see a middle aged man. Cito had a heart attack after finding out this happened while Pilar and Gerry were furious! Pilar and Gerry left for Gapan, Nueva Ecija to find out that her daughter’s body was accidentally sent to the middle-aged man, Salvador “Dodong” Buenviaje’s hometown in Matnog, Sorsogon. They set off with two of Gerry’s friends to claim Charms body and give her proper burial.

Meanwhile, in Matnog, Mulong received the grief news that his older brother, Dodong has passed away due to a bus accident and his casket arrived with the news as well. This is when we found out that the middle-aged man was a fugitive and became a hitman. Mulong was also surprised to see Charm’s body in the casket instead of his brother. Since there was bounty in his brother’s head, Mulong and his friend Lucio took advantage of the opportunity to get the reward and make a profit by arranging a wake that was supposed to be for his brother.

The setting of the story takes place during Holy Week, as Pilar travels from one town to another, there different scenarios on how they take Holy Week seriously and how some disregard it.

PREMIERE NIGHT EXPERIENCE

I went to the premiere night of “Two Funerals” with two of my friends, Ate Mae and Celica, and thank goodness I asked them to come along! After being so busy with work and being out of my social life, I forgot how premiere nights really were. Lots of people, media, games, freebies, the red carpet, the cast, the director, the interviews, the picture taking and of course the thank you speeches! I really wonder how or what I’d look like if my friends weren’t there with me, I guess I wouldn’t have fun at all. We stood near the reception table and all of a sudden Will DeVaughn arrived! Ate Mae has this huge crush on him that I automatically followed him so I can get a lot of picture for her. Next thing I know, we were already in front of the stage and the cast started arriving. The camera men, reporters and photographers started to barge in on them and I went with them. I took pictures like I was with the media but I was only using my cellphone camera and I enjoyed it! I also noticed that Celica was also taking pictures and the funny thing is, she was taking picture of almost every guys denim jeans that she could use as an additional info for her report at work! The best part of it was Ate Mae, Celica and I didn’t expect we’d seethe cast and of course Director Gil Portes up close.

I was overwhelmed with Gil Portes when I saw him, especially when he was saying his thank you speech and when he asked if everyone can go inside the movie house. I loved his voice, on how heartfelt he said his speech, I was also surprised that he was only a few seats away from us and we were in the deluxe section. Later did I realize that he was observing the audio, he would shout “Louder!” or “Sounds! Sounds!” and I loved that about him.

MOVIE REVIEW / RATING

I really loved this indie film, it’s a drama and comedy film, everyone was laughing when there was a funny scene, almost everyone applauded and when it came it the drama part everyone was quiet as if the scenario was sinking into them. Tessie Tomas did a great job in acting as strong mother and wife as she travel, I loved how Xiam Lim cried and how Jeffrey Quizon made me laugh with his acting. The story was well plotted, there questions that was raised during the movie and a shocking twist in the end. If you’re a romantic comedy, a melodrama movie person or a movie person that loves a deep story then you’ll definitely love this movie.

For my overall rating, I give “Two Funerals” an 8 out of 10.

A Glimpse of My Office Work :D

It was our 2nd week in the new office and since I’m with the Product Development Team, we were in charge in setting up the sample room. The sample room is a mini walk in closet that has a variety of denims like jackets, jeans, shorts, skirt, and so on and so forth that are imported and we use them as a reference. We had to segregate the old from the new, the ones that we liked and the only we wanted to disposed. It took use a day and a half to finish… but wait it doesn’t stop there… I couldn’t stop myself and I had to take pictures! These were taken from my cell phone and I haven’t gotten the one from the company’s DSLR. I’ll try to post it when I get a chance in the office :D

Flores Pangasinan (Manaog & Mangatarem) Trip | 08.29.2010

There's always a first time for everyone but having an a lot of 1st time experience for a day... NOW THAT’S AN EXPERIENCE!!!

We left Mandalyuong around 5AM and we arrived at Our Lady of Manaog past 10AM!!! The driver was really driving so slowly, which was so irritating!!! What a waste of time?!?! I was all used to arriving really early and that was the first time that we were late for mass. It was even the first time experiencing a lot of people there, we had a hard time looking for a place to park, we didn't find a place to eat brunch and we ended up asking permission from a stranger if we could dine in his bamboo made stall along the road. It was like a mini picnic and that's what I enjoyed the most.

As usual, we got lost going to Mangatarem, we kept asking every tricycle driver how to get to San Carlos. My Dad and uncle can't remember the way from Manaog to San Carlos, but whenever we reach San Carlos, they know how to get to Mangatarem. I was totally craving for Putong Calasiao, so we had to stop at Calasiao to buy some puto and kutsinta. I think we arrived at Mangatarem past 2PM. We rested, had lunch, chit-chatted with my relatives and left around 4PM.

We arrived in Mandalyuong around 8PM, it was a tiring travel and I blame it all on the driver! Its not a good experience …REALLY!!! If he could at least drive a bit faster, we could have been in Manaog a lot earlier and I could have enjoyed catching up with my cousin in Mangatarem. Instead, we had to cut our bonding moment short because if we stayed longer in Mangatarem, we might arrive in Mandaluyong around 11PM!

The best experience I had was the mini picnic, buying puto and kutsinta from Calasiao, catching up with my cousin and of course, my aunt’s tupig! :D

NOTE: Next time you’re going to rent a van and a driver, ask how fast they drive…

My Voting Experience on Election Day

Today is Monday, May 10, 2010 and its election day! I slept around 1:30 AM and woke up at 6:00 AM. My Aunt and Uncle were already awake; my aunt was watching the news, my uncle bought “pandesal,” we ate breakfast and my aunt woke my cousin since we all decided to go to our precinct around 6:30 AM. I didn’t notice that’s it was already 6:30 AM and I had to rush and wake my parents. I forgot that it was even my father’s birthday today and just realized it when my mother told me. We arrived at Bonifacio Javier National High School and checked which room our precinct was. The watchers (BEI) gave us a small piece of paper which had a number and we had to circle our precinct number, write down our name and sequence number. After that we had to wait in the classroom just beside our precinct until our number was called out so we can start voting.

It was really simple and we should have been finished in 30 minutes or less. The disappointing part was it didn’t turn out that way. There were numerous complaints and some made it more complicating. My uncle told me that the old procedure was that they can just go to their precinct and start voting, there wasn’t any number and they should have informed the number system in the news. That was one complaint, the second complain came from me, it was just 7:00 AM and it was really hot in the classroom and next thing I know the electric fans were not working. Half the room was filled with my relatives and 2 out of 3 of were senior citizens. My cousin and I were concerned that some of them may get a heat stroke so we decided to be a human fan for them since there’s nothing else we can do. Most of the voters chose to wait in the corridor than in the classroom, the watchers did not have control of the people and no one bothered to listen to them. My cousin took matters in her own hands, she started lining up the desk chairs and told one of the watchers what we were doing. She told them to have the voters whose numbers that are about to be called to be seated so that they’ll know that they’re about to vote. The funny thing is the watcher went in the room and started calling out the next few voters to sit down. This got me really irritated that I couldn’t help myself shout back at her. I told her that the people she should be calling are the ones who are in the corridors since we all know our numbers and we were far from the numbers being called. It took them a couple of minutes before things got organized.

The third situation is not really a complaint but just a thought. Since there were a lot of senior citizens they BEI gave them priority and they were actually a lot and most of them were my relatives. So the numbers weren’t followed and it made it longer. One of my cousins said that senior citizens should had they own room so that it won’t be a hassle for everyone and my other cousin shared her though that they should have done it in a alternate matter. For example, if the next 5 numbers are going to be called are 5 to 10 and 8,9,10 were senior citizens they should have had #8 to vote then #5, then #9 and so forth. Not 8,9,10 and then 5, 6 and 7. It was just a thought.

In my own point of view, the process was actually easy, BEI should have just been more authoritative and voters should be coordinating as well.

A Dark Hallway & A Mysterious Cult

I had this dream a few hours ago.

It was dark and no electricity, I was walking in a hallway with up and down stairs that look like a maze and there were rooms and doors left and right with people fixing their stuff. It was pitch black and every time I passed by I would say “Just passing through.” Then all of a sudden it struck me! Its pitch black and how on earth were they able to fix their bed or fold their cloths? So I looked back and there they were, I realized that right after I said “Just passing through,” they would stop whatever they’re doing and start following me. I was as if they were stunned that I could see them! They had dark glaring eyes at me and that’s when I knew they were bad spirits.

I was locked in a pitched dark room and there was this girl whom I thought she was also held captive but I was wrong. She was like a disciple of some sort; she was praying or chanting some sort of a spell or prayer. I felt she was trying to convert or possess me to whatever she believed to be, it seems that their goddess was a succubus and then I felt a weird aura around me and I know I was possessed! I was laughing like a lunatic and felt this energy or power that I couldn’t explain! The girl was talking to me and was about to help me stand up when I took her hand and started raping her! To think that I was raping my same gender and I was having fun with it!

I was trying to wake up and I know that I was half awake but I couldn’t get myself to open my eyes. I could hear my friend calling me but the dream was too string! I felt that I was really possessed or my soul was still in the spirit world of dreams! I still couldn’t believe it!

After raping the girl I went out of the room and back in the hallway and using my cellular phone as a flashlight and looking for those evil spirits but they weren’t there. I was still laughing and smiling like a crazy person and I saw the girl running away. I felt a chill at the back of my spine and I know someone or something was behind me. I turned around and there was a spirit glaring at me she was a kid. I was smirking and she the kid was about to say something or warn me when I felt my friends hand on my arm and she was waking me up. I was mumbling something I still can’t open my eyes but this time I know that I was awake.

I asked my friend why she woke me up and she said, “Binabangungot ka!” She said I was making sounds or mumbling or groaning repeatedly so she woke me up. My body felt heavy and I felt really tired from that dream.

Galaxy - My Favorite Chocolate

Ever since I was a kid, I really loved Galaxy. It’s really creamy and really sweet. It likes combining the creaminess of Cadbury plus the sweetness of Mars. I really wish we had this here in the Philippines. You can get this in U.A.E. so whenever my friends are coming here for a vacation I always ask them to bring Galaxy. It used to be just plain chocolates now they have other selections like Hazelnut and caramel.

Vampire Diaries

I’ve heard of Vampire Diaries for months but I didn’t get to watch until this week. I would have to say that I really like this TV Series. The stories are unpredictable and really interesting. I’m waiting for the two episodes for its 1st season.

Vampire Diaries is about how two teenage siblings, Elena and Jeremy Gilbert, cope up with the tragedy of their parents death a few months ago. As the new school year starts, Elena meets and is attracted to the new guy in school, Stefan Salvatore, who turns out to be a vampire that a century and a half older than her. The story gets better when Stefan’s older brother, Damon Salvatore, arrives and gives color to the story. Damon and Stefan were close and they fell in love with the same person, Katherine Pierce. After more than a century, Damon found it interesting that Stefan is in love with a girl that looks exactly like Katherine. As the evil brother, Damon wanted Stefans life ruined along with those he holds dear to him.

Clash of the Titans - Review

I’ve watched Clash of the Titans a few weeks ago and I somewhat enjoyed it. I’ve always been a fan of Greek mythology and basing the movie from the old one well there’s a huge difference. The effects are a given fact that’s its great and more advanced than before but when it comes to the story I’d still go for the old one. If you’ve read the story or watched the 1981 film, you’ll know what I mean. My friend, Tyron, and I were talking about the movie and wwe had the same opinion; the movie was cut short and its wall in the effects.

If you’re the person that loves effects then you’ll love the Clash of the Titans but if you’re all into the story, I suggest that you enjoy the movie as much as you can.

My overall rating of the movie would be 7.

Charice Live in L.A.

Charice did a mini concert last March 19, 2010 on the KIIS FM stage at Nokia Plaza tonight in L.A. She sang 3 of her latest songs, In This Song, Reset and Pyramid.

I really like her song Reset; I like the tune and the message of the song. As I kept listening to the song, it’s about a girl that’s busy going on tours, shows and having a long distance relationship. She finds it hard and is having second thoughts on their relationship and instead of breaking up she wants a “reset”. She still loves the person and wants the old feelings she had when they started and not the feelings she has that’s making their relationship fade.

I can't wait for her album! Its going to be out on May 11 in the States. You can pre-order her album in iTunes or Amazon.

Recipe: Sisig Triangles

I was browsing through the net and I stumbled on this recipe at YUMMY.
The ingredients are affordable, its easy and quick to do.
I'm going to try this recipe but instead of pork I'll use tuna instead.

Makes 20 pieces
Prep Time 10 minutes
Cooking Time 10 minutes

Ingredients:
1 160-gram pack ready-to-cook sisig
1/3 cup chopped onions
20 pieces large wanton wrapper
Egg white from 1 egg
Oil for deep-frying

Instructions:
1 In a pan, sauté sisig for 1 minute. Add onions and continue to cook for 1 to 2 minutes. Let cool.
2 Place a spoonful of sisig in the middle of the wanton wrapper.
3 Brush sides of the wrapper with egg white.
4 Fold in half to make a triangle.
5 Heat oil and deep-fry triangles until wanton is golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Serve with chili-vinegar as dipping sauce.

I was at my friends’ house last night and while surfing she saw Charice’s new single featuring Iyaz “Pyramid.” I'm always fond of Charice and I’m glad that her album is going to be available on May 11, 2010. Super Junior Super Show 2

Suju’s concert here in the Philippines is by far the best concert I’ve been attended this year. We were seated in the general admission and when I first saw the stage I was shocked and excited! It was indeed the biggest stage that was built in Araneta it took a week to assemble it. While waiting for the concert to start my friend, Ate Mae, was gossiping with some high school teenagers that were avid fans as well.

The concert started around 7:00 or 7:10pm and fans were screaming at the top of their lungs. I loved the sapphire blue glow stick in the dark and Suju’s performance was great! They started with a couple of serious performances, great dance numbers, and by the middle of the concert they looked as if they were just playing around the stage.

It was really a great performance and we really wanted more so the next day we watched their first Asian tour that Ate Mae downloaded before hehehe

My friend, Tack Yarza, is having a Birthday Benefit Dinner on Friday, May 14th 2010 at Makati Park & Garden in Guadalupe.

Tack or Kcat Yarza, also known as Maria Kathrina Lopez Yarza, has been a good friend and classmate of mine. I’ve known her for almost 10 years and she has been the most positive and strongest person I have ever met. We were classmates in college and from what I recall she was one of the best in our class. I always wondered why I seldom see her and when I do she was always smiling, making jokes that brightens everyone’s day. I remembered we had this class in our color theory; it was our first time to do abstract painting, whenever there was a great paint our professor, Sir Ng, would post it on the bulletin board. Tack was absent when it was posted and after a week she saw her painting, I really couldn’t forget what she said, she laugh and comment “Who would have thought I’d see my artwork posted there even if I’m not always here?!” That was way back 1st year of college; I didn’t see her much after that since I changed my section from B to A, so I barely saw her. After I graduated I was all into the internet again and guess who I always chatted with? Yes, it was Tack! I was didn’t know how to make a decent resume and I had my eye on call centers, so she was there on YM and she gave me pointers and all. Months and years passed by, I even remembered she visited my place when Maddie brought her there. She was all happy and okay as I always remembered and to my surprise Maddie told me that Tack’s in the hospital! That’s when I knew she had Neurofibromatosis Type2 (NF2).

Neurofibromatosis Type2 (NF2) is a rare genetic disorder of tumor growth in the nerves including the brain area. She has numerous tumors that have spread through her body which cause complications. The next few sentences are really hard for me and yes it hurts on my end, but here I go. She can’t properly move her face because of weak facial muscles, her left hand and leg is partially paralyzed, she has a blurry vision, can’t swallow, can’t properly smile and most of all she is (as much as I don’t want to say this) DEAF! Instead of being all sad, Tack accepted this and she didn’t lose hope. One day she stumbled on a website on the internet about a device that can make her hear again! The device was expensive and she did everything she could to raise enough funds. She started by selling T-Shirts that has an abstract ear and called it he hEAR shirt. Word got out, about Tacks project and even the media helped out in promoting her campaign.

After the entire struggle, she can hear the world again and it doesn’t stop there! She still has to undergo a lot of surgery, medical treatment and physical rehabilitation. Tack continues to sell hEAR shirts and other products like button pins, wrist band and mobile charms. This fund raising event is to help her with all those treatment and it would really be a huge help for her. Let’s all help Tack by attending to her birthday benefit dinner.

There’s going to be live bands, stand up comedians, a delicious dinner, open bar and raffles draw during the program. As Tack said in her website “M y goal for this event is: 'everyone should be happy'.. Happy tummy because of the delicious foods.. Happy spirit because of the fun during the event.. Happy soul because you help someone & be a blessing to me.. and of course HAPPY faces because we're all happy happy joy joy! Yey!”
